Interesting mystery with interesting resolutions. Matt Scudder first novel and it spends some time setting up the character. Like the Saint Scudder gives 10% to charity but that's where it finishes in comparison. Raw and gritty with a disillusioned ex-cop.

Very well written and entertaining, although I thought it was pretty easy to spot the killer early on in the story - that was a bit of a bummer. ( )
